The culms are yellow with a green groove, just opposite of the typical form.
‘Spectabilis’ deserves it’s name with it’s beautiful bright yellow color and deep red shoots in spring and summer. It is the most hardy bamboo with yellow and green striped color pattern. It makes an excellent screen or hedge. ‘Spectabilis’ can be aggressive so proper containment is advised. It can develop a zig-zag pattern on the culms. It is an excellent container plant and a favorite for coloration.
