Giant Black Bamboo
Phyllostachys nigra ‘Daikokuchiku’
Similar to Black Bamboo, this variety is taller and thicker. It reaches up to 40’ with a diameter up to 3”. It comes from a bamboo grove in Folsom, California. Our plants originated from Hastings Schmidt who dug it directly from the grove. Beautiful black stemmed Asian accent grown in temperate climates. Works well in containers or any size garden. Feathery, lacy green foliage. Fast growing. Culms turn jet black after the first 6 months to one year.
